Although articles and blogging remain my main modes of creativity, I’m also working on video content creation. I’m calling myself a content creator because I’m going beyond just writing (although I’m not one in the classic sense). Using a two-word phrase rather than a five-name listing is also easier.
So, I’m doing something different with this week's post. Over the last few years, I’ve produced seven short videos from some of my favorite destinations, all from my YouTube channel. Depending on how it goes, I may try to do this again.
These are videos that are at least a minute in length. I didn’t include any “shorts” because those often have a higher view count. I’m here to give these videos some love and hope you enjoy them. Please like and share these videos and subscribe to my channel if you do.
Lyon, France (April 2023)
I was surprised to learn that this city on the Rhone and Saone Rivers in eastern France was the culinary capital of the country, not Paris. Although I only spent two days there, I would love to return someday and take more advantage of the food and wine exploration.
Sensorio, Paso Robles, California (May 2023)
Paso Robles has become a major wine-producing area of central California and offers some serious foodie offerings. However, I did not know about this 15-acre immersive and experiential light display outside town. I was surprised and delighted to view it during my visit.
San Juan, Puerto Rico (May 2023)
I’ve visited this Caribbean destination twice in the last two years. While San Juan is stunning and full of incredible attractions, I would love to see the rest of the island, especially the El Yunque rainforest and Vieques Island, because they are away from the urban areas. Still, I’d return to San Juan anytime.
Surrey Spice Trail (September 2023)
Not many people know about this city outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. However, it could become one of Canada’s most populous areas in the next few years. Surrey is also known for its many South Asian, Asian and Latin American restaurants, due to the significant growth of its immigrant population. This video shows what visitors can expect and enjoy when dining.
Galveston Cocktail Trail (May 2024)
I had visited this Gulf Coast city once before I attended a travel writers’ conference. During that time, I was passing through to embark on a cruise ship. On this trip, I went on the Cocktail Trail, three bars the tourism bureau wished to highlight. I enjoyed these places and wanted to go more if we had the time.
T-Mobile Park, Seattle (August 2024)
When people think of Major League Baseball parks, they don’t often think of good food. That’s hard to do because of the well-established association with hot dogs, peanuts and beer. But at places like T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, the culinary offerings are almost as much of a draw as the game itself. Here are some of the foods we enjoyed during our visit.
Finger Lakes, New York (September 2024)
Like many people in the western U.S., I had heard about this beautiful region of upstate New York in passing, not knowing what it was about. Last fall, I discovered it during another writers’ conference and loved it. That was especially true for the wine and food I tried—Finger Lakes has become a leading winemaking and culinary innovation area.
