Starting today, I'm going to let you know about some tips that might make your travel life go a little easier.  First up...dealing with those awful but inevitable delays.

My kids and I were heading to Los Angeles two weeks ago.  Since the weather in Denver was crystal-clear, we figured we wouldn't run into any delays or issues.

Wrong.

It was also about 8 degrees above zero, so many of the planes needed de-icing and special attention to fly. This was also the time that flight all over the country were either delayed or cancelled.  Even when our flight was going to be delayed by 90 minutes, we still had to wait at least an hour to take off.  My kids and I just sat there, along with 160 other passengers, until we could safely depart.

But we've learned long ago that these thing happen, especially when you travel.  You have to learn to be flexible and go with the flow as much as you can.  It doesn't help to become enraged or frustrated, yelling at the flight attendants (they have enough crap to deal with) or any other airport personnel.

You just have to find ways to settle in and pass the time as calmly as possible.  Catch up on your favorite streaming shows. Knit or crochet that Read that book you've been putting off since December 2020. Or, as my kids do, play that video game that you try to hide from everyone else.

Just as one of my travel advisor friends said, it's better to be stuck somewhere on vacation than stuck at your workplace
